When I first left school I enquired at college for counselling courses and was told to gain some life experience before committing to a counselling course. Initially I was a little taken aback by this, but as time went on, I knew this was the right decision. So from a young age I knew I wanted to work with people and to offer support. I started as a teenager working in the hospitality industry, this gave me my first experience of working with the public. I then moved on to work in the public sector as a receptionist, where I was once again working and helping the public. I continued in this sector but in a more involved one to one role helping vulnerable adults who presented with many and various difficulties in their lives. I have been in this role since 2007, but made the decision to seek out my original goal of becoming a counsellor. So here I am, achieving the goal I set out to do as teenager leaving high school. Counselling is my passion, working with people and seeing the gained knowledge and insight that my clients have achieved is what I call enrichment.
