So what is counselling?

Counselling in the main is a talking therapy which offers a place for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be causing you some difficulties currently or that have been causing you some difficulties for some time. Counselling is a place for you to be you, to have time out just for you, where someone will listen, offer no judgements and to help you process what is going on for you. Counselling is not there to give advice or opinions, but to help you find your own solutions and gain better insight in to who you are and how you see the world, yourself and others.

There are different types of approaches to counselling, the most common is CBT or Person Centred, but there are several different approaches out there. I am trained in various approaches and will tailor our sessions to what you need. I mentioned earlier that counselling is a talking therapy in the main, well sometimes sessions can include using different tools such as drawing, or using cards or objects if you choose to help you to feel a bit more comfortable to open up. The sessions are really there for you to use as you need.
